Harriet has always loved dogs and got her first dog Millie when she was 19. She knew right from the beginning she wanted to have a trained dog and build a strong bond between Millie and herself.

Harriet started by attending local puppy classes and soon caught the bug and was hooked on training and discovering all the different ways you can teach your dog to do something.

After seeing a gundog demonstration at Crufts Harriet knew this was something she wanted to get involved in and after talking to one of her trainers he showed her a simple exercise with his dog Harry and then she knew she just had to learn more and the adventure began!

Harriet has been a trainer at Riverlily Working Dogs for 5 years. She has spent hours in the training field gaining experience and has had the pleasure of teaching hundreds of dogs and handlers. Harriet loves seeing dogs and handlers progress through the courses and workshops, her favourite classes to teach are puppy classes as this is the beginning of the handler and dog partnership and the foundations to everything you learn.

Harriet's team comprises of 5 dogs, Millie a cockerdor, Cooper a black labrador, Lara a yellow labrador, Mouse a black labrador and Zeta a black labrador.Harriet and her team enjoy picking up during the shooting season on four local shoots and during the summer enjoy training and entering Gundog Working Tests.

Harriet is also the Working Test Secretary for the Utility Gundog Society (Herts, Beds and Bucks Branch) and organises and run four Working Tests a year.

Harriet's top training tip: In training you have good days and bad days but always remember you go home with the best dog!

Harriet x

Caitlin Harris with Harley, Hattie and Heidi

“Harriet Has been a pivotal part of our gundog training journey. I'm not sure she expected us to still be sticking around 4 years and 3 dogs later; but that is testament to her skilld as a trainer, and her kindness and support that she's shown us."
